In most organisations, it is commonly believed that power is a scarce resource. As a result, managers tend to hoard this seemingly precious commodity rather than share it. Yet, recent research indicates that the more productive forms of power in organisations actually increase in number with the sharing of power.

1. Share Information And Keep Everyone In The Loop
Particularly in a business setting, it’s important to let others around you know what is going on. As a manager or leader, you should build trust with your colleagues or employees as a fundament. Start by sharing information with them. Important information can allow them to be their best in critical situations and make the best decisions.
In your personal life, it’s hard for other people to give support to you if you don’t share the goings-on in your life.
2. Share Ideas
Sharing ideas is something artists and budding entrepreneurs are already familiar with since it’s essential for their work. But sharing ideas is something everybody loves - it can open so many doors, create incredible bonds and lead to adventures. Share your ideas over a coffee. It can take between three minutes and hours.
3. Encourage Creativity And Risk Taking
Be creative. Do some creative things with your friends or even make new friends by doing so. This is an excellent way to encourage creativity and develop skills. Take some amazing photos and post them on Instagram. Be creative!
Similarly, what is life without taking a few risks along the way? I think that encouraging people to take risks can be applied to both personal and professional endeavors. Risk-taking is what makes our lives livelier! If you run a business, encourage your employees to go out on a limb occasionally. While sometimes risk-taking doesn’t pay off, it often does result in new ideas at the very least!
4. Making Mistakes Is O.K.
Encouraging employees to make decisions means that you also have to be prepared for those moments when they are going to make mistakes, but also learn from those mistakes. Don’t criticize them right after they make their first mistake, it will only keep them from trying new things and making customers happy.
5. Celebrate Both Successes And Failures
The employees who take a risk are important, never mind the outcome. They learn a valuable lesson from each risk they take or mistake they make. Celebrate both success and the person.
6. Create A Learning Environment
Learning new things and how to handle things differently are the most important things in business. Discuss with your team various situations, analyze what you’ve done in the past, practice, see what you could have possibly done for a different outcome and accept mistakes. This process might require a lot of time, but it’s worth it!
